Süspansiyon damlaları her kullanımdan önce çalkalayın.

For a drop to work, it must reach the inside of the eye — the pocket between the lower lid and the eye. The 7 steps below apply to all drop treatments, including glaucoma, after surgery, infection, uveitis and dry eye.
Get readyWash your hands; shake suspensions; remove your lenses.
Tilt your head backTilt your head back slightly and look at the ceiling.
Pull the lower lid down to form a pocketGently pull the lower lid down with your index finger.
Instill 1 dropHold the bottle upright 2–3 cm above; squeeze 1 drop into the pocket.
Close the eye, press the inner cornerClose without blinking; press the inner corner and wait 2–3 min.
Wipe away the excessWipe the overflow with a clean tissue; wash your hands.
A second drop? Wait 3–5 minutesLeave at least 3–5 minutes between different drops.
Tips
The bottle tip must not touch anythingIf the tip touches the eye, lashes or a finger, microbes contaminate the bottle; this can lead to an eye infection.
Putting drops in a child’s eyeWith the child lying down and the eye closed, place the drop on the inner corner and have them open the eye. Stay calm and turn it into a game.
If you wear contact lensesGeneral rule: remove the lens before instilling and wait 15 minutes before putting it back in. However, some drops are compatible with lenses — check the leaflet for your own drop or ask your doctor/pharmacist.
Storage and expiryFollow the storage instructions in the leaflet — some drops are kept in the refrigerator. Check the expiry date and how many days the bottle can be used after opening; discard single-use vials 24 hours after opening.
Drops are personalDo not share your drops with anyone; especially after surgery, if needed, using a separate bottle for each eye is safest.
Don’t stop on your ownEven if your eye feels fine, do not stop the drop without consulting your doctor; treatment stopped early can flare the disease up again.
Beware of steroid (cortisone) dropsDo not use cortisone drops without medical supervision just because they “feel good”. Uncontrolled use silently raises eye pressure and can lead to glaucoma, cataract and permanent vision loss. These drops are used only with a doctor’s advice and follow-up.
What matters for your condition?
Glaucoma (eye pressure)The drops are usually used lifelong, every day and at the same times. Because glaucoma often wears down the optic nerve without symptoms, skipping drops lets the damage progress. Always apply the inner-corner pressure (2–3 min) — some glaucoma medicines can affect the heart, blood pressure and breathing if absorbed into the body. To avoid gaps in treatment, have a new bottle ready before the current one runs out.
After eye surgeryAntibiotic and cortisone drops are usually given on a tapering schedule; follow the frequency and duration exactly and do not stop early. Hygiene is critical: clean hands, and the tip must not touch anything — infection inside the eye after surgery (endophthalmitis) is rare but serious. Do not rub or press on your eye.
InfectionUse the drop at the prescribed frequency and for the full course; do not stop early even if you feel better within a few days. The infection can be contagious: do not share the drop or towels, wash your hands after each application, and discard the bottle when treatment ends. Do not wear contact lenses during treatment.
UveitisCortisone drops often start at a high dose and are tapered slowly; stopping suddenly can trigger a flare — follow the tapering schedule exactly. Shake suspension drops before each use. Drops that dilate the pupil cause temporary blurred vision and light sensitivity; be careful when driving.
Dry eye and allergyIf you use artificial tears frequently during the day, prefer preservative-free ones; a gel/ointment gives longer relief at night. In allergy, do not rub the eye — a cold compress after the drop can ease the itching. Important: do not use steroid (cortisone) drops on your own decision or for a long time just because they relieve itching — they raise eye pressure and carry a risk of permanent vision loss that can go as far as glaucoma and blindness.
When should you see a doctor?
If you have increasing pain, redness, reduced vision, heavy discharge or extreme light sensitivity.
If allergy signs such as swelling, itching or a rash develop after the drop.
If you are not sure which drop to use, how many times, or in what order — don’t hesitate to ask.
